Womyn's music and music by women

Womyn Making Waves 2017

I know I’ve said it before, but dammit, we are womyn and we are going to make waves, taking name and kicking booty. We are Womyn Making Waves, womyn’s music and music by women on WEFT 90.1fm http://weft.org.

Womyn Making Waves is Barb & Gina and we are on the radio from 1-3pm Central time. We stream live at weft.org and you can hear any show you miss on WEFT on Radio Free America for a total of 2 weeks after it airs, which lets you time shift for your listening pleasure.

WEFT is community radio. We don’t get money from either the Public Broadcasting Corporation or the National Federation of Public Broadcasters, the (although we do benefit from a small Illinois Arts Council grant). We are listener supported and volunteer operated. We get underwriting from local Community Partners but most of the support for WEFT comes from our volunteers.

You can find a history of WEFT on our website. Womyn Making Waves has been on WEFT since the very beginning, with the first WMW show happening on the first day WEFT went on the air–September 25, 1981. WEFT has been a supporter of the women’s community and the LGBTQ community for over 35 years and WEFT will continue to be in the vanguard of community support and activism for as long as we continue to occupy the airwaves.

Womyn Making Waves is looking for news and information from the local women’s and GLBTQ community as well as public service announcements  for the community. If you have something that you think should be on WMW, let us know. email kittent@gmail.com or call the station at 217-359-9338.
