From WEFT press release: On Sunday, September 23, singer-songwriter Michael KamminCorstalkers Cajun Band featuring Tom and Matt Turino and friends, and the local blues band, The Painkillers will perform for WEFT-FEST 2012, live from Mike ‘N Molly’s Beer Garden in downtown Champaign. This year’s WEFT-FEST celebrates 31 years of broadcasting to the listeners of East Central Illinois through the WEFT 90.1 FM airwaves. The event will run from 2 to 6 p.m. and will be broadcast live on the air.

For years, WEFT-FEST was held out on Market St. in front of the radio station, with the legendary late reggae host, Chef Ra, grilling burgers and corn. Mike Murphy, owner of Mike ‘N Molly’s, has co-hosted the event with WEFT over the last several years from his beer garden next to the station.

Many musicians have performed for WEFT-FEST over the years, including Captain Rat and the Blind Rivets, Allison Kraus, The Poster Children, Candy Foster, UI Steel Drum Band, Parkland Jazz Orchestra, Jeff Helgesen and many jazz performaers, Jordan Kaye and The Prairie Dogs, Bodacious String Band, Children’s Conservatory of East Central Illinois, Kilborn Alley, Delta Kings, The Blues Decons, Tractor Kings, and more.

The station offers a live local program for musicians to perform each Monday night, from 10:00–11:00 p.m. called The WEFT Sessions. For more information, go here.

There will be re-freshements, chalk art, and facepainting. For more information, go to our website.
