I was pointed to this post by Hugo nominated author M.J. Jemison by a friend on Live Journal. I have to admit that I am not very good about demanding that folks be politically correct in my general direction, but there are things I don’t say and things I do say our of respect for my fellow sentient beings. When I read Jemison’s post, I kept nodding and saying “Right On, Sister,” especially when I read the following quote:
I’m getting really, really sick of the idea that respecting your fellow human beings is somehow restrictive or oppressive or damaging to creativity, productivity, the genre, whatever. I keep running into this kind of whining — because that’s what it is — all over the place.
I highly recommend the article, and Jemison’s fiction, which is excellent.
