Summer Hours/Schedule @ WRC! The Women’s Resources Center will be open Monday through Friday —9 AM to 5 PM**; Saturday & Sunday—closed** (** unless there is a program scheduled).

 

Watch for the WRC Summer 2012 Dish It Up Program! Coming soon to a women’s center near you—every 2nd and 4th Monday @ noon @ WRC—a free lunch/discuss series!!

 

Women’s Support Group—Summer 2012—Mondays—5:30pm; Beginning June 4 through August 6, 2012 @ Women’s Resources Center; 2nd Floor—703 S. Wright Street, CH. A support group for female students who have experienced sexual assault/abuse or abuse within a relationship. The goal of the group is to help cope with emotional trauma and build a sense of support and community. Discussions will focus on fears, shame, trust, disclosure, current and future relationships, overcoming disruptions in daily living, and options and resources. 1 Summer Internship: Social Networking Intern

Mission: To improve the Women’s Resources Center’s use of social networking sites, including: Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, Blogger, and others in order to increase communication, improve our image, and connect with the campus community. Qualifications:

Undergraduate or graduate student in good standing at the University of Illinois Familiarity and experience with various social networking sites: Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, Blogger Familiarity with Hootsuite a plus! Experience in maintaining a Facebook fanpage a plus! Print and web design experience a plus! Bruce D. Nesbitt African American Cultural Center (BNAACC)

5-6 POSITIONS POTENTIALLY AVAILABLE | 708 S. Mathews Ave. MC-154 Urbana, IL

We are currently looking to fill several undergraduate positions for the fall semester. A brief summary of jobs are listed below. 1.     Office Assistant

Assist with general office work including copying, typing, restoring and updating files, handling and delivering interdepartmental mail, and communicating with other University departments; Share phone duties (including receiving and recording phone messages); Maintain hallway and conference room bulletin boards and manage other display areas (i.e. posting current materials left in the Office Assistant Mailbox, removing outdated materials); etc.

1.     Jr. Facility Manager

Assist professional staff with Center tours, facilitate discussions on Center’s history, and serve as BNAACC’s student  representative at OIIR events, workshops, and meetings; Perform evening monitor duties and occasional weekend duties when space is reserved on the weekend;

Set-up and operate A/V equipment for functions held in Center; Manage space reservation database, BNAACC listserv, and key inventory; Assist in keeping lounge and computer lab neat and clean. Also, maintain kitchen facilities and assist in cleaning the refrigerator, dishes,

utensils, etc.

1.     BNAACC Programming Intern

Program events related to the art (written, performance, still, abstract, etc.) and entertainment (music, theatre, screen, dance, etc.) industries; Help develop brochures, e-Newsletters, posters and graphic designs for BNAACC; Oversee social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Tumblr, etc.) and co-coordinate the departmental social networks. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ideal candidate must be a sophomore, junior, or senior currently enrolled at Illinois. Successful candidates will have a genuine familiarity with African American culture; an ability to multi-task on various projects as assigned; and familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite products (Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver). Videography, web design, and experience in layout/design are beneficial.

 

Office of Minority Student Affairs (OMSA)

The Office of Minority Student Affairs’ Upward Bound College Prep Academy is still accepting applications for positions associated with its Summer 2012 Residential Component. Upward Bound is a pre-college academic program that assists youth from the Champaign, Urbana, and Rantoul areas. The program is designed to identify students interested in attending college and equip them with the skills necessary to succeed in college. We attempt to offset academic deficiencies and certain environmental deficiencies through the provision of tutorials, classroom instruction, and educational and cultural activities.
