Out & About on Campus!

Sunday/April 29 Champaign-Urbana’s Fourth Annual Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebration! @ 2:00 to 4:00pm @ Lincoln Square Village Mall, U. The University of Illinois’ Asian American Cultural Center presents Champaign-Urbana’s fourth annual Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. May has nationally been celebrated as AAPI Heritage Month for almost four decades now, but hosting a formal celebration for our AAPI community in Champaign-Urbana has been a new endeavor.  Last year’s celebration brought together the diverse facets of C-U’s unique campus and community AAPI population, while also educating, entertaining and engaging the public via performances, interactive art, and cultural educational booths and resources.  Experience the sights and sounds of traditional and modern performances (music, dance, and martial arts) and find out how those performances fit into the AAPI community, expand your artistic skills through interactive arts, crafts, and calligraphy, and learn more about the many groups that make up the rich culture of C-U’s AAPI population through cultural educational booths and resources. The event is free and open to the public. The Asian American Cultural Center and Lincoln Square Village Mall proudly sponsors this event and is paid for in part by UofI’s Student Cultural Programming Fee and City of Urbana Arts Grant.
